The Greatest Scene from Tombstone – Wyatt Earp Calls Out Johnny Tyler and Slaps Him Silly

When it comes to great movies from the ’90s, Tombstone is definitely on our top ten list. The movie had an all-star cast led by Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer as Wyatt Earp and Doc Hollywood.

In this famous scene from the movie, Wyatt Earp walks into a saloon in Tombstone, AZ and confronts Johnny Tyler, an angry card dealer played by Billy Bob Thornton. Tyler talks a big game, but when Earp calls him out and starts slapping him, he wilts like a flower in the desert. This is definitely one of our favorite scenes in Tombstone!

Scatman John – Scatman (Ski Ba Bop Ba Dop Bop) Music Video from 1994

In 1995, Scatman John released his debut major-label studio album Scatman’s World. The previous year, he had released Scatman (Ski Ba Bop Ba Dop Bop) as a single, and the song was a massive hit internationally where it hit number one on numerous charts around the world. In the U.S., it peaked at number ten on the Hot Dance Club Play charts, and number 15 on the Hot Dance Music charts.

Matt Foley, Motivational Speaker, Scaring Kids Straight in Prison on Saturday Night Live in 1994

One of our all time favorite characters from Saturday Night Live is Matt Foley, motivational speaker, played by the late Chris Farley. In this sketch from season 19 in 1994, former motivational speaker Matt Foley, who is now in prison, along with his buddy Deshawn Powers, played by Martin Lawrence do their best to try and scare a group of kids straight with their tales of prison life and how a cell and toilet can’t compare to a van down by the river!

One of our favorite parts of every Matt Foley sketch on SNL is watching the other actors trying not to laugh.

Eminem – Guilty Conscience featuring Dr. Dre Music Video from 1999

Guilty Conscience featuring Dr. Dre was the third and final single released from Eminem’s 1999 second studio album The Slim Shady LP. The song was a hit on the UK R&B and UK Singles charts, peaking at number one and number five respectively.

The music video for Guilty Conscience won the “Hottest Music Video” award at the Online Hip-Hop Awards in 2000, and was nominated for the Breakthrough Video award at the 1999 MTV VMA’s. The song was nominated for the Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group at the 2000 Grammy Awards.

A Few Good Men from 1992 – “You Can’t Handle the Truth” Courtroom Scene

A Few Good Men is one of my favorite movies from the ’90s. There are so many great scenes in the movie, but undeniably, one of the best scenes in the movie is when Tom Cruise’s character, Lieutenant Kaffee baits Colonel Jessup, played by Jack Nicholson, to admit he ordered the “code red”. It’s one of the most iconic movie scenes of the last 30 years.

Terminator 2 – “I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle” Scene

Terminator 2: Judgement Day was released to theaters in July of 1991, and at the time of its release, with a budget of $94–102 million, it was the most expensive film ever made. It was the sequel to 1984’s Terminator, and it starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Robert Patrick, and Edward Furlong.

In this famous scene, Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator walks into a biker bar stark naked and tells a biker, “I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle.” Unfortunately for the biker, he decides not to give them to him…

Braveheart – William Wallace’s Inspirational Freedom Speech Before Battle

Braveheart was released to theaters in the United States on May 24, 1995 and became one of the year’s best films. At the 68th Academy Awards, the film was nominated for ten Academy Awards and won five: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Makeup, and Best Sound Effects Editing.

The film starred Mel Gibson as Sir William Wallace, a 13th-century Scottish warrior who led the Scots in the First War of Scottish Independence against King Edward I of England. One of the greatest scenes in the movie is when William Wallace and his men come riding in to join the fight against the English. Man of the Scottish warriors had lost faith and were about to leave the battlefield when Gibson as Wallace gives his famous freedom speech. If this doesn’t make you want to run through a brick wall, nothing will!

Hammond is always great as Connery, and Shannon does a great Driver, but in this episode, David Duchovny nails his impression of Jeff Goldblum. He is spot on!

Fatboy Slim – ‘Praise You’ Music Video from 1999

Fatboy Slim released Praise You in 1999 as the third single from his second album, You’ve Come A Long Way, Baby. Praise You was a huge hit in the UK, topping the UK Singles Chart. In the US, it peaked at number 36 on the Hot 100 chart, while peaking at number two on the Alt Airplay chart and topping the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart in 1999!

The music video for Praise You was a huge hit on MTV and won three awards at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards, taking home the award for Breakthrough Video, Best Direction, and Best Choreography. In 201, the video for Praise You was voted number one on the 100 best music videos of all time, in a poll to mark the 20th anniversary of MTV.

In 1997, Sixpence None the Richer released their third studio album titled Sixpence None the Richer. The album was certified Platinum, and it produced their first and only top ten hit on the Hot 100 charts when Kiss Me peaked at number two on the Hot 100 and AC charts, and number one on the US Pop charts.

The band produced three music videos for the song. One that pays tribute to the French film Jules and Jim, and two others featuring the band in the park watching a portable TV.

Among the mourners are the Green Lantern, The Flash, Lex Luther, the Penguin, Batman and Robin, Hawkman, Aquaman, and our favorite from the skit, Chris Farley as the Hulk, and lastly, there’s Sinbad as Black Lightning, the only superhero nobody recognizes.

The Cast of 1997’s Titanic Then and Now

Titanic was released on December 19, 1997, and it became the first movie to reach the billion-dollar mark. It grossed over $2.2 billion dollars at the box office. It was nominated for 14 Academy Awards, and won 11 of them, including the awards for Best Picture and Best Director. It was the highest-grossing film of all time until 2010 when Avatar surpassed it. Both Titanic and Avatar were written, directed, and produced by James Cameron, so he holds the distinction of being the only writer/director/producer with the two highest-grossing films of all time.

Titanic starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as two members of different social classes who fall in love aboard the Titanic during its ill-fated maiden voyage.

On September 19, 1991, Robin Williams and Jonathan Winters were the guests on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. To have two of the greatest comedians of all time on the show at the same time was so cool. Johnny did what he did best, which was to let his guests go wherever they wanted to go with the conversation, and they went with it.

Classic SNL – Mary Katherine Gallagher Wants to Join the Black Angels Gang

Mary Katherine Gallagher was a fictional character that Molly Shannon portrayed on Saturday Night Live from 1995 to 2001. The character became one of the most popular characters on the show during that time frame. Shannon played the Gallagher in the 1999 film, Superstar.

The Breeders – ‘Cannonball’ Music Video from 1993

In 1993, The Breeders released their second album titled Last Splash. All three singles from the album were top 30 hits on the Alt Rock charts, including a number two hit for the debut single Cannonball. The second and third singles, Divine Hammer and Saints, peaked at number 28 and 12 respectively.

The Breeders was formed in 1989 by then-bassist of the Pixies, Kim Deal as a side project with Tanya Donelly, guitarist for the rock band Throwing Muses.

The Cast of Blossom Then and Now (1990 – 2021)

Blossom debuted as a pilot preview on NBC on July 5, 1990 and premiered as a mid-season replacement on January 3, 1991. It went on to air on NBC for five seasons until May 22, 1995. The series starred Mayim Bialik as Blossom Russo, an Italian-American teenager living with her father and two elder brothers.
