The Distance was Cake’s first big hit when it hit number four on the Alt Rock charts and number 35 on the Hot 100 Airplay charts in 1996! The Distance was the first single released from their ’96 album Fashion Nugget. In 1998, they scored another number one song on the Alt Rock charts with Never There.
