Like so many iconic movies from the ’90s, Dumb and Dumber almost never was. At the time, the Farrelly brothers were basically broke and almost every studio in Hollywood had turned down the script for Dumb and Dumber, which was originally called A Power Tool is Not a Toy. Once they found a studio to greenlight the film, they were turned down by almost every famous actor at the time to play the lead roles before landing Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, but as we know now, Carrey and Daniels were perfect together, and the legend of the Farrelly brothers was born.
After Dumb and Dumber, they either wrote, directed, and/or produced so many hilarious movies including Kingpin, There’s Something About Mary, Me, Myself & Irene, Shallow Hal, and Dumb and Dumber To. Enjoy this look back at the making of Dumb and Dumber from 1994!
