In 1996, The Fugees covered Roberta Flack’s Killing Me Softly, and their version became one of the ’90s biggest international hits! Lauryn Hill sang the lead vocals on the song, and it hit number one on the US top 40 charts, and it hit number one in over 20 countries worldwide, including the UK, where it is the best-selling hip hop single by a group.
Killing Me Softly won the 1997 Grammy for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, and the music video below won the MTV Video Music Award for Best R&B Video.
