In 1997, The Cardigans scored the biggest hit of their career when their re-release of Lovefool topped the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart and peaked at number two on the Adult Top 40 and Billboard Radio Songs charts. They had previously released the song as a single in 1996 as the first single from their 1996 First Band on the Moon album, but when the song was included on the Romeo + Juliet soundtrack in 1996, the song’s popularity in the United States took off!
