Spacehog released their debut album Resident Alien in 1996. The album produced two top 30 hits on the Mainstream Rock chart for In the Meantime and Cruel to Be Kind. The debut single In the Meantime was a massive hit on the Mainstream Rock and Moderate Rock charts, peaking at numbers one and two respectively. It also peaked at number 32 on the Hot 100 chart.
