In 1992, Sophie B. Hawkins scored the biggest hit of her career with Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover, which peaked at number five on the Hot 100 chart. It was the debut single released from her first album Tongues and Tails. Three years later, she scored her second top ten hit on the Hot 100 chart when As I Lay Me Down peaked at number six on the Hot 100 chart. Her first music video was banned, so she made another version that you’re probably familiar with.
