On May 20, 1998, 13-year old Scarlett Johansson appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman. During the interview, Johansson revealed that she told a little white lie to Robert Redford in order to convince him to cast her in the movie, The Horse Whisperer. Lucky for her, her little white lie turned into a breakthrough performance in the movie, and she was nominated for the Chicago Film Critics Association’s Award for Most Promising Actress.
