Misery was released to theaters on November 30, 1990 and starred James Caan, Kathy Bates, Lauren Bacall, Richard Farnsworth, and Frances Sternhagen. The film was directed by Rob Reiner, and was based on Stephen King’s 1987 novel by the same name.
There’s one scene in the movie that everyone remembers. It’s the hobbling scene when Annie, played by Kathy Bates, puts a wood block in between Paul’s (played by James Caan) ankles… and whack! This is one of the most intense and horrifying scenes in movie history.
